how it all began

Born in Craiova, Romania, Zoica designed her first dress when she was 13 years old. She bought two harmonizing fabrics and implored her mom to help her sew it. It turned out great, only too tight, since she did not take in consideration any garment ease. She could barely breathe, but she was happy, and thus began Zoica's lifelong attraction to fashion. However, there were no Fashion Design school in Romania,so she fallowed another love of hers, nature, while designing for her own enjoyment.

Today, having a horticulture degree from Romania, and a fashion design degree from American Intercontinental University of Atlanta, Zoica has embarked on a journey to create clothing that reflects her affection for fashion and Earth.

After a decade-long career in the fashion industry, Zoica began to notice the scarcity of stylish clothing made with regard for the environment and social wellbeing. Her belief that one does not have to wear a printed T-shirt to validate her commitment to our social and environmental issues, and that women can be fashionable wearing sustainable clothing that are flattering to the body, laid the foundation for creation of Zoica Matei.

mission

Our slow fashion philosophy is reflected through our every day conscious choices, while creating timeless pieces, collectibles, which embrace simplicity of form, and focus on detail.

We are determined to keep our production at home, therefore all our garments are made in the USA.

The designs are constructed by well-paid workers, and they are built to last.

Being really concerned with the amount of travel that our products can undertake, we are making them locally.

Discovering that dyeing, washing and drying processes are using most of the energy, and producing most of the carbon, our designs are offered in natural colors.

Organic, green, fair trade, although trendy words, describe our ambition for a lifestyle brand, and a business model.

desire to inspire

The brand is built out of a desire to use responsible and earth friendly business practices. It represents Zoica's strive for making one look good ,while feeling good and inspiring others.

Welcome to change-inspiring clothing!
